It's all starting to happen in the allotments - rhubarb, strawberries, spring onions.......

Another beautiful weekend for tree planting - so good, we're starting to need to water the trees in!
Great bunch of happy volunteers too, including the Rotary Club of Edinburgh and its younger version Rotaract And always great to welcome the kids! Huge amount of progress after another week - a one-kilometer hedge (4750 trees - 70% hawthorn, with dog rose and honeysuckle mixed in, and the occasional rowan and elder). Seeding started in the wildlife area, and the wildflower meadow scraped ready for seeding. Woodland area filling out nicely.
Special thanks to the Dundee University's Dirty Weekenders and Davidsons Mains 30th Craigalmond Scouts. Community groups have started planting at the allotments. 2 fantastic days of tree planting at Lauriston Farm - beautiful site, wonderful volunteers, perfect weather!
And nearly 2000 trees planted in a weekend. Thanks to all involved, particularly Toni and Lisa - a tremendous amount of work has gone into getting this far. Sam Dickinson of Edinburgh Wildfire Explorers kindly donated a car-full of nearly new tree protectors and stakes - gratefully received.
Then we saw the storage shed packed with 9000 other tree protectors and stakes, and were humbled and awed |
